- CDB Systems Online MAIL programs
-
- These programs allow your callers to get their mail when they log onto your
- system. The mail base is updated in real time.
-
- Note - users can READ, Read UNREAD, and DELETE their mail During LOGIN!!!
- Also (Ver 2.1) users will be informed what boards have NEW messages, NEW
- files, and whether or not there are new bulletins.
-
- To use the program you need to have these programs. All have NO parameters.
- MSGCOM Message base compiler, compiles all messages.
- (run once a day or so).
-
- CDBMAIL The scanner, which is invoked by an embedded command.
- Note the CDBMAIL.EXE is invoked DIRECTLY, no BATCH file.
- CDBMAIL takes care of redirection and watchdog functions ITSELF.
- It also echoes remote characters to the monitor so you can see
- what the caller is doing.
- Currently, CDBMAIL will probably not work with system that
- use 9600bd modems -- in that it assumes a login baud of 9600
- means the sysop is at the keyboard. As long as your modem does
- not return 9600 as a valid online baud, there wouldn't be any
- problem.
-
- >>> The Welcome file NO LONGER needs the NAME.MSG file <<<
-
- MSGUPD The updater, run after your caller logs off.
-
- And these files
-
- SYSOP.MSG The sysop's name is here. MSGCOM and MSGUPD reroute all mail
- to 'SYSOP' so that it looks like mail to the name in SYSOP.MSG
-
- AREAS.MSG This is the control file. An example from my board is included.
- You list all message areas you wish to scan.
- Users will also be informed of all areas (in this file) that have
- new messages (ones created since their last call).
-
- BULLETIN.MSG This file contains the path to your system's bulletins.
- If the file exists, users will be informed of bulletins that
- have been created or modified since their last call.
- I have this file as the .PRM file may NOT remain stable!
-
- Your WELCOME.GBS,BBS files are modified to invoke the mail batch file.
- (Called CDBMAIL in my files). My files are included.
-
- I include my RUNOPUS.BAT file to show you how I run it, and I use the
- internal echomail etc utilities. Note where MSGUPD is.
-
- Examine the examples provided, which are the operational versions from my
- bbs. If you have any questions, give me a call at 104/28 or voice
- 303 444 7071.
-
- This software is provided under the SHAREWARE concept. If you like it and
- would like to see it grow and develop, a contribution is welcome!
